These mills made shingles, barrel staves, clapboards and all types of lumber. One of the main attractions that Otis had, and still has, is Beech Hill Pond, Springy Pond, Burnt Pond, Rocky Pond and Floods Pond. These ponds attract many fishermen and boaters and are enjoyed by many campers. Some of the campers have enjoyed Otis so well that they have made it their year-round residence.
